The BLOOM Grant Program for Small Businesses in York County awarded grants up to $1,500 for projects proposed by businesses that would improve their productivity, expand their services, or grow their business to the next level. After receiving a record number of applications, finalists were invited to a pitch presentation with a community panel of judges.
Businesses awarded represented 89 jobs and various industries such as commercial & residential cleaning, food service & retail, automotive services, construction, book publishing, and more. Examples of projects include upgrading equipment, adding new signage, renovating indoor and outdoor spaces, training and certification for new services, and the purchasing of new inventory.
In this grant round, 57% of awards were distributed to women-owned businesses, 57% of awards were distributed to BIPOC-owned businesses, and 13% were distributed to small businesses owned by veterans.
“This grant will impact my business significantly. Adding higher quality props and equipment will give people more comfort in our space,” shared Ariel Taylor, owner of Hype! Studio in Red Lion, who received a grant.
